What is the Qualified Electronic Signature (QES)?

The QES is the only electronic signature form that can replace the handwritten signature from a legal point of view.

The QES is equal to a handwritten signature before Swiss (Art. 14 2bis OR) and EU law (Art. 25 (2) eiDAS). According to the Federal Electronic Signature Act (ZertES), QES can only be offered by state-recognised certification service providers. Skribble obtains QES from Swisscom, a provider of electronic certificates recognised under eIDAS and ZertES.
