# Password security at Skribble

## Skribble attaches great importance to password security and follows the recommendations of international institutions that issue guidelines for secure passwords.

Here at Skribble, we follow the latest password security recommendations of the [National Institute of Standards and Technology](https://pages.nist.gov/800-63-3/sp800-63b.html#sec5) (NIST). NIST's new guidelines suggest that a secure password:

- is at least 10 characters long,
- consists of a random series of words, and
- doesn't appear on any list of leaked passwords

To support our users when choosing a strong password, we have compiled some valuable tips on how to deal with passwords in a blog article.
